Weekly update – Year 6

This week in Year 6, we focused on poetry in our writing sessions. We used ‘Wind’ by Dionne Brand as our stimulus and the children loved discussing the structure, rhythm and their own ideas for who and what the wind would see and carry.
The children wrote their very own poems as if they were the wind, carefully describing all of the things they affected.

Children progressed from ordering numbers to 10 million to rounding numbers to a million in Maths. Children really rose to the challenge and remained focused throughout.

We learnt all about classification in Science and how to sort various animals and plants. Everyone soon got the hang of this.

In Geography we played battleships to help us remember our 4-figure grid references, we reminded ourselves about Eastings and Northings and also looked at a real OS map of our area.
